MY STORY
I was born in 1979 in Auckland, New Zealand. My parents bought me a C64 for my 10th birthday and after a period of intense frustration at not knowing how to make the thing do what I wanted, I became committed to mastering it and eventually taught myself to code. A self-appointed nerd before it was cool, I started my career in tech in 1999, where I met a man who happened to cultivate San Pedro cacti. What started as an adventure in altered states of consciousness became an exploration of eastern philosophies and a formal meditation practice. In 2018 after a profound experience during a meditation retreat I resolved to find a way to merge my 20 years of experience with mindfulness and meditation and my tech career, which is now expressed as this coaching practice and Humantech Consulting, both centered on awareness, purpose and transformation.
My relevant training includes ICF ACC-level coach development, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Nonviolent Communication (NVC), the InnerMBA (NYU), Neurodiversity-Affirming Care for Autistic Clients, and additional certifications in behavioural, somatic, and other psychological approaches.
I’m a certified Professional Scrum Master, meditation teacher since 2018, and facilitator of a men’s circle focused on authentic connection and awareness.
When I’m not coaching, you might find me exploring creativity through photography or music, or hiking through nature. I value humour, health, presence, and the joy of discovering new cultures through drink, food, and music.
